Microsoft's email hotmail changes to Outlook.com
US computer group Microsoft announced Tuesday, July 31, a renovation of its messaging system, Hotmail , which will be replaced by Outlook.com , in tribute to Microsoft's highly popular email management application that is part of its suite Office .
"We think the time has come to reinvent email, so today we are previewing Outlook.com," Microsoft executive Chris Jones said on a group blog.
Noting that since the launch of the Mail Gmail to Google in 2004, which offers virtually unlimited storage capacity, "little has changed" in terms of messaging, Chris Jones said it was "time to rediscover the email, a modern email, connected, smart, powerful and under control ".
New operational addresses
As of Tuesday, July 31, users could create a new address @ outlook.com, or, if they had a hotmail account, switch to the new system - either by keeping their original address @hotmai.com or @ mscn.com, or by adopting the new ending.
There is also a mechanism for switching users of Gmail or any other mail on the Outlook.com system.
This particular messaging has the particularity of being "connected to Facebook , Twitter , LindedIn , Google and soon Skype to bring context and communications that matter to email," said Microsoft on his blog.
"In Outlook.com inbox, your emails come alive with your friends' photos, recent 'news' (from a Facebook thread) or tweets, the ability to chat in instant or make calls videos - all with an address book always up to date, connected to your social networks, "promises Microsoft, ensuring that the user can continue to segment his correspondents.
"Of course you control the experience, what you communicate, the networks you connect to, and your personal information," the group said.
